There are many opportunities in several other industries, too, if you’re starting on the path toward your first career, are seeking to change your current position, or are pursuing a new business idea.

- The service-providing industry ofeducation and health services: growing at 3.6%, and relating to careers in education, health care, and social services, such as psychology and nursing. Contributing to this growth is that San Diego is a leader in technology-driven health innovation, with more than 80 academic and research institutes within the city limits.
- The goods-producing industry ofmanufacturing: growing at 3.3%, and relating to careers in food, textile, apparel, chemical, plastics, etc.
