National University Alumna Karen Schiller Appointed to Acting Director with Internal Revenue Service

San Diego, Calif. – National University alumna Karen Schiller has been appointed to serve as acting Director of Rulings and Agreements for Exempt Organizations by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) effective immediately. Schiller earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting from San Diego-based National University in 1987.

Previously the Director, Exam Planning and Delivery for Small Business/Self-Employed Division, Schiller was called on to help lead the tax-exempt division during a difficult period in which the agency is accused of targeting political groups.

A veteran IRS employee for 25 years, Schiller carries a strong track record along with extensive knowledge of exam and management issues.

Schiller began her career as a Revenue Agent in San Diego, California, in 1987 and has held numerous leadership positions across the country since. In her current role in SB/SE based in New Carrollton, she oversees Examination Management Information Systems, Examination Return Selection and Workload Planning and Analysis. Prior to this position, she was the Director, Exam Operations Support and prior to that the acting Area Director for South Atlantic Area Examination.
