National University’s Sanford Institute of Philanthropy

All-day seminar Feb. 24 will feature Institute’s Cause Sales approach and social media techniques to strengthen donor relationships

San Diego, Calif. – Feb. 18, 2016 – National University’s Sanford Institute of Philanthropy, a leader in educational and training curriculum for the nonprofit sector, is expanding its offerings by holding its first Orange County seminar Wednesday, Feb. 24 at National University’s Costa Mesa campus. Topics for the day-long seminar include leveraging social media and the Institute’s Cause Sales approach to fundraising that blends the passion of philanthropy with an emphasis on business principles.

Developed through National University’s Sanford Institute of Philanthropy, Cause Sales includes communication skills, prospecting strategy, basic psychology, relationship building techniques, as well as research approaches and data analysis. Attention to the Cause Selling cycle enables fundraisers to improve their ability to attract more donors, solicit donations, and to manage their nonprofit organizations more effectively.

Presenters at the Orange County seminar include Dan McGinley, a former sales executive with 3M who brings 30 years of experience with nonprofits. Mr. McGinley has worked with the Institute since its start in 2014 and was involved in editing the book “Cause Selling: The Sanford Way,” which was written by Dr. David J. Lill and Jennifer Lill and forms the foundation for the Institute’s programs. The social media session will also be led by Francisco Martinez, an expert in designing and implementing comprehensive marketing and communication strategies. Mr. Martinez will share techniques for nonprofits to successfully  promote their organization on Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter.
