Stedman Graham Joins National University

Mr. Graham will teach on leadership topics and contribute to curriculum development

San Diego, Calif. –  Dec. 16, 2014 – Stedman Graham, a New York Times bestselling author and businessman, has been named a faculty member at National University, the second-largest private, nonprofit university in California. Mr. Graham joins the University’s School of Business and Management where he will teach on leadership topics and contribute to curriculum development. Mr. Graham, who served in the U.S. Army, will also participate in education outreach to members of the military through the University, where one in four students is a current or prior service military member.

Mr. Graham is a former adjunct professor for the Kellogg School of Business Management at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois, where he taught a course on leadership dynamics. He is currently the chairman and CEO of S. Graham & Associates, a Chicago-based management and marketing consulting firm specializing in the corporate and educational markets. “I am excited to explore the many opportunities at National University that will allow us to create an academic experience for students that reinforces their preparation as leaders in their organizations and communities,” said Mr. Graham.

“We are extremely thrilled to welcome Mr. Stedman Graham to National University and to provide our students with the chance to learn from a global leader in the field of leadership and success management,” said National University President Dr. Michael R. Cunningham. “At National University, we believe in offering our students academic opportunities that are relevant and directly applicable to the rapidly-changing world we live in, and we expect his involvement will result in both immediate and long-term benefits to our students.”

As a speaker and entrepreneur, Mr. Graham lectures and conducts seminars for businesses and educational organizations worldwide on the topics of identity development and leadership.  He joins National University  for the 2014-2015 school year to teach students in the School of Business and Management, including those in the Master of Science in Organizational Leadership program.

Mr. Graham’s message focuses on his philosophy of “Identity Leadership” which is based on the principle that you cannot lead others until you can first lead yourself.  Through his Nine Step Success Process® Graham seeks to transform followers into leaders by teaching them how to organize their lives around who they are.   Mr. Graham notes that “many of us spend years trying to find out who we are, and, sadly, too many of us never do.  If we fail to define ourselves, we risk letting others define us by our race, gender and background.  We buy into labels that keep us in a box and, as a result of those limitations, we never realize our greatest potential.”

“Mr. Stedman Graham’s unique philosophy of Identity Leadership has resulted in extraordinary success for himself and we are fortunate that he will be sharing his perspectives on personal identity and success with our students,” said Dr. Steven Lorenzet, Dean of the National University School of Business and Management. “Mr. Graham’s emphasis on leadership development and lifelong learning are very well aligned with our goals here at National University. “

Mr. Graham has authored eleven books, including two New York Times bestsellers, You Can Make It Happen: A Nine-Step Plan For Success and Teens Can Make It Happen: Nine Steps to Success. His latest release, Identity: Your Passport To Success, was on the Wall Street Journal Bestseller list. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in social work from Hardin Simmons University, a Master’s Degree in Education from Ball State University, and an honorary doctorate in Humanities from Coker College.
